Special Note: All applicants should live within the local travel to work area. 45 minutes maximum travel time.
Pay: £150 per week with six-monthly pay reviews
Qualification: NVQ Level 2 Business Administration
Duration: 12 Months (Level 2) & 18 Months ( Level 3)
Employer Description: Local Authority - Providers of conference & training facilities
Hours of Work: 8.45 to 5.00 (Mon – Thurs) 8.45 to 4.45 (Fri) with 1 hour for lunch
Annual Holiday Entitlement: 20 days paid holiday per year plus statutory days to be taken outside of term time
Age: 16 +
Job Description:
- Answering telephones, taking messages including bookings of rooms and facilities and dealing with centre users
- General administrative duties, including word-processing, and photocopying.
- Assisting the Centre Technicians in setting up technical equipment including laptops, projectors to be used in rooms at the Centre
- Providing support for users of technical equipment
- Providing support for the reprographics service including photocopying, copying of DVDs and general preparation of training materials
- Assisting in providing refreshments to conference delegates, setting up rooms and general tasks supporting the services offered by the Centre
- Dealing with hire facilities e.g. room bookings, refreshments & equipment requests.
- Using Microsoft Outlook to communicate with colleagues & staff.
- Assisting in mounting artwork displays.
- Occasionally assisting other departments in the education directorate.
- To undertake a first aid training course.
- Attending LBRUT training courses i.e. Customer First & the Corporate Induction
An ability to complete a complex & demanding learning programme with external examinations is a requirement for Way to Work vacancies
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Good communication skills with clear spoken English
- Knowledge of customer care, able to deal professionally with personal & telephone callers
- Accurate I.T skills & knowledge of Word
- Able to work flexibly within a team asking for & giving support as needed
- Able to follow procedures and to work to deadlines in a busy and pressurised environment
- Able to understand & respect the importance of confidentiality, both within & outside the workplace
- Aware of health & safety and equality & diversity
