Position Title: Apprentice Nursery Assistant - ON HOLD
Location: Whitton, TW2
Special Note: All applicants should live within the local travel to work area. 45 minutes maximum travel time.
Pay: £100 per week with six-monthly pay reviews
Main Qualification: NVQ Level 2 Childcare Learning & Development
Duration: Full-time 12 Month contract
Employer Description: Nursery for children 1 to 8 years old
Hours of Work: Shifts between 8.00 a.m. – 4.15 p.m. (3 days) & 9.15 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. (2 days) (Mon – Fri) with one hour for lunch
Annual Holiday Entitlement: 20 days plus statutory days
Age: 16 - 18
Job Description:
Working within all areas of the nursery, as part of a busy team:
- Helping to plan activities for the children & create a safe environment
- Sitting, playing, talking, listening & interacting with the children
- Setting-up & supervising finger-painting, singing, sand, water & other activities
- Supervising outdoor play & activities
- Eventually changing nappies, toileting (always under supervision) and assisting with the personal hygiene & care of the children
- Assisting in serving meals & clearing away
- Helping to keep the nursery clean, tidy & safe
- Eventually attending parent meetings & discussing children’s needs with other staff, parents etc.
An ability to complete a complex & demanding learning programme with external examinations is a requirement for Way to Work vacancies
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Interested in a career working with small children & babies
- Aware of customer care, able to deal patiently with children & adults
- Good communication skills, with clear spoken English
- Able to work flexibly within a team, asking for & giving support as needed
- Aware of Health & Safety
- Able to understand the importance of being punctual & the impact absence has on the effectiveness of the team
