Qualification: An accredited Level 2 Qualification
Duration: Until March 2011
Placement Description: Local Authority - Child Protection Team
Commitment: Flexible volunteering of up to 30 hrs per week / Participation on a Duke of Edinburgh Residential project
Age: 16 - 24 only
Eligibility:
- All applicants must live in the Richmond Borough
- Expenses will only be provided on production of valid receipts
- All volunteers are subject to a Criminal Records Bureau Check
Volunteer Placement Duties:
- Assisting in setting-up a system of feedback forms – e.g. helping to formulate questions
- Accompanying social workers on family visits to get the views of children & young people
- Entering data into the database to produce statistics
- Answering phones, taking messages & eventually dealing with callers
- Filing / faxing / photocopying / shredding
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people directly & on the telephone
- Able to understand & respect the importance of confidentiality within and outside the workplace
- Able to work within a team, asking for & giving support as needed
- Accurate basic keyboard skills – knowledge of MS Word & Excel, and databases is desirable, or willingness to be trained
- Aware of equality and diversity & health and safety
- Prepared to travel within the local area (travel expenses covered)
- Good timekeeping
