Expenses: Up to £100 maximum per week (Depending on individual circumstances & provided receipts)

Qualification: An accredited Level 2 Qualification

Duration: Until March 2011

Placement Description: Local Authority - Volunteering within a Sports Centre

Commitment: Flexible volunteering of up to 30 hrs per week / Participation on a Duke of Edinburgh Residential project

Age: 16 - 24 only

Eligibility:

  • All applicants must live in the Richmond Borough
  • Expenses will only be provided on production of valid receipts
  • All volunteers are subject to a Criminal Records Bureau Check

Volunteer Placement Duties:

  • Meeting and greeting members of the public and providing information
  • Answering calls, taking messages and dealing with simple queries
  • Assisting in setting-up exhibitions, education activities and events
  • Assisting with mailshots, folding, enveloping, labelling etc.
  • Assisting colleagues in ensuring the safekeeping of works on display
  • Maintaining and updating the database
  • Helping to look after Orleans House Gallery and grounds

Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people directly and on the telephone
  2. Able to understand and respect the importance of confidentiality within and outside the workplace
  3. Able to work within a team, asking for and giving support as needed
  4. Accurate basic keyboard skills – knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and database is desirable, or willingness to be trained
  5. Aware of equality and diversity and health and safety
  6. Prepared to travel within the local area (travel expenses covered)
  7. Good timekeeping
  8. Good practical and organisational skills
