The V Talent Year project is a £10.5 million National Full-time volunteering programme that launched in March 2009. The scheme has been piloted with 33 Local Authorities offering 44 week placements in the Children Services and Culture directorate.
The aim of the project is to give 1,000 volunteers aged 16-25 the opportunity to directly enhance and influence public sector services whilst gaining valuable employability skills. At least 40% of the volunteers will be NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training), and one third are from the After Leaving Care team.
The Way to Work team, have successfully recruited and set up the V Talent project for the London Borough of Richmond, and initially placed 15 young people from across our borough into a great mix of placement opportunities.
